Archive Services
Archive Services collects, preserves, and provides access to records created by the University and its predecessors. We act as the central point of information about the University’s history and welcome enquiries from students, staff and the wider community.
These pages will give you information about the records we hold (Archive Holdings), how to access the collections (Using the Archive)and information about the publications we are producing ahead of our 175th anniversary (University History Project) including details of our 2008 publication: The Education of the Eye – the History of the Royal Polytechnic Institution 1838-1881 by Brenda Weeden. We hope to make our detailed archive Catalogue available online in the near future. The Archive team can also provide additional support to University of Westminster staff and events – please see Services to Staff for more details.
We are actively building the collections, and are always interested in records transfers from staff or gifts and deposits from outside the University. Please do contact us if you have material which you think might be of interest. We are also recruiting former staff, students and Polytechnic members for our oral history programme – for more information see the University History Project pages or get in touch using the contact details below.
