Personal and professional development
We recognise that staff development is central to maintaining both an individual's and the organisation's ability to perform effectively, now and in the future.
Continual Professional Development
Our Staff Development Policy aims to underpin the development and embedding of a culture in which all staff are supported and valued – for personal and career development, and for the contribution made towards achieving the University of Westminster’s goals.
Fee waiver
Staff following an approved course of study at the University of Westminster will have the opportunity to request a fee waiver. This applies specifically to the payment of formal tuition fees for approved University of Westminster courses.
Current staff can find further information in our Staff Development Policy on the Intranet.
Study leave
Managers have discretion to allow paid study leave for staff to attend examinations. Professional support staff following an approved course of academic study, with the support of their department, are offered one extra day’s study leave per major paper.
Current staff can view further details on our study leave Intranet webpage.
Library
All staff at the University of Westminster are entitled to use the library facilities across all campuses, as well as borrow books for personal study or leisure.
Reciprocal library access
University of Westminster staff are registered to use the SCONUL reciprocal library access scheme—granting borrowing privileges to participating higher education libraries in the United Kingdom and Ireland. For further details please see the SCONUL website.
