Universities that Count
For the second year running (2009/10) we participated in the UK-wide Universities that Count programme (UTC) to assess our environmental and social responsibility performance. Universities That Count consists of four pillars:
- Workplace (our people)
- Marketplace (our business conduct + learning, teaching & research)
- Environment (our planet)
- Community (interaction with our neighbourhood)
Compared to last year's results, the University of Westminster was one of the biggest improvers amongst all the other universities that took part in the scheme. Please look at the diagram below to compare how well we improved compared to last year.

Community Managment at University of Westminster was recognised as 'Impact Area of Outstanding Achievement' (≥90 per cent), whereas our Corporate Strategy, Marketplace Management, Social Impact, and Assurance and Disclosure, were recognised as 'Impact Areas of Excellence' (≥75 per cent). Completing the survey is not an end point, on the contrary, it shows us where the gaps are and gives us a framework through which we can improve environmental, social and economic sustainability of the University. More information and the UtC annual report can be found on the EAUC website (Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges).
The diagram below illustrates the survey structure.

We are taking part this year again and like last year, the University Executive Board approved the participation and set up a Steering Group to guide us through the process.
