MBA Social Entrepreneurship Module
The University of Westminster Social Entrepreneurship module is unique in that it requires students to use our experience and skills learnt on our MBA to solve real life problems in real life situations, rather than simply testing theory. The module is supported by a UK based charity called The Great Generation, that identifies an overseas organisation that are community-driven and tackle real needs, +that require the support of volunteers.
The Great Generation is a young and forward thinking organisation which mobilises individuals, civil society and business to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Working closely with local organisations and individuals, they help arrange for volunteers to head overseas to carry out the project work. They have arranged for our students to work with a Mumbai based organisation called Arpan.
Arpan’s mission is to prevent the occurrence of child sexual abuse and heal those who have been affected by it. Their core activities include: spreading awareness, teaching personal safety skills to children, healing child victims and adult survivors through counseling and therapy and building practitioner capability.
Before heading to Mumbai our students will develop a plan to create and set-up a pan-India helpline. Whilst in Mumbai their challenge will be to implement the plan for the helpline and help to create a scale up plan for the project.
To enable The Great Generation to facilitate such a project and element of fund-raising is required. If you are an individual or work for an organisation that feels you would like to contribute to such a project we would welcome all donations however large or small.
Read our MBA student blog to keep up to date with the project and find out what our students are up to in India.
