Research

Situated at the centre of the University in our historic Regent Street location, researchers in English, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at Westminster enjoy ready access to a wealth of scholarly resources in London which rank among the best in the world. Making full use of this central London location, staff in the Department have been involved in the organisation of a number of recent high-profile events, including at Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Whitechapel Gallery. The Department is one of the main contributors to the cross-School and cross-disciplinary Institute for Modern and Contemporary Culture, and also hosts the twice-yearly Westminster English Colloquia and annual Interface with Linguistics conference, as well as running two research seminar series in each semester.

English, Linguistics and Cultural Studies is further home to the project ‘The Lexis of Cloth and Clothing in Britain c.700-1450: Origins, Identification, Contexts and Change', run in collaboration with the University of Manchester and funded by the AHRC and Leverhulme.
