Courses are taught on a 1-year/full-time or 2-year/part-time basis (with enrolment possible in either October or January) and offer teaching and research excellence: the most recent external audit by the UK government's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) rated Politics and International Relations teaching as “excellent” (23 out of 24 possible points). In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), 60% of the Department’s submissions in Politics and International Relations and 70% of those submitted for Asia Studies were “recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour” or higher by the UK’s research funding agency.”
