Imagine a world facing extraordinary change – socially, ecologically, economically. Finding ways to support and facilitate a healthy and engaged citizenry may be one of the greatest challenges for addressing matters of sustainability. Despite the potential for negative effects, an expanding catalogue of theory and empirical research suggests that nature can positively influence multiple dimensions of human health and wellbeing. New collaborations among urban ecologists and social / health scientists are beginning to investigate these phenomena further. This talk explores important facets of this research drawing on findings from a range of disciplines.
