Kevin Morgan gained his BSc psychology degree at Brunel University and his PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry.  Prior to teaching at the University of Westminster, he has held lecturing posts at the Open University and Birkbeck College, University of London.  Kevin's main research interests are patient insight, structural neuroanatomy (MRI) and neuropsychological function in first-onset psychosis.   For the last nine years, he has been conducting research into psychosis at the Institute of Psychiatry, where he is part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of psychologists, psychiatrists, sociologists, geneticists and medical anthropologists.  The main study he is involved with is the 'AESOP' project (Aetiology and Ethnicity of Schizophrenia and Other Psychoses). The AESOP project is one of the first investigations to integrate biological and social factors into research on schizophrenia. The project began in September 1997 and is now following-up the patients first seen eight years ago.
