Our full-time radio tutors on the BA Media Studies have recent experience in BBC local and national radio, new media and web production, live broadcasting and documentary making. We also have regular guest tutors such as senior producers from Radio One, independent production companies and various London radio stations.
Matthew Linfoot
Director of Undergraduate Media Studies and Course Leader, Radio Production
Matthew worked at the BBC in a variety of roles for ten years before joining the University of Westminster. He was the presenter & producer of a weekly magazine programme at BBC GLR94.9 (1993-2000), as well as producing a sixteen part series of oral history programmes: The Century Speaks. Matthew won a SONY Gold Award (Best Music Documentary) for producing & co-writing You've Got To Hide Away, with Tom Robinson, which explored hidden gay sexuality in popular music.
Latterly, Matthew was the editor of the BBC London website before moving to BBC Nations & Regions to work on two major and exciting projects, A Sense of Place and Voices as a senior producer. He is currently researching a history of BBC Local Radio.

David Hendy
Reader
David worked for many years at BBC Radio 4, notably as the producer of The World Tonight and as senior producer on Analysis, before joining the University of Westminster in 1993 to establish the radio course. He continues to produce one-off radio documentaries and has published a variety of articles on subjects such as pop music radio, Radio Five Live and the political economy of radio in the digital age. He is the author of Radio in the Global Age (Polity) and has recently published the award-winning social and cultural history of Radio 4, Life On Air (OUP). David also teaches analysis modules across the Media Studies programme and supervises dissertations and doctoral theses.
Charles Carroll
Visiting lecturer, freelance journalist and radio/television presenter who teaches news radio production skills.
