MA in PR students celebrate their graduation
in November 2010
Further information for Alumni can be found at our Alumni Portal.
The MA course has successfully produced several hundred graduates from all corners of the globe in the nine years since it was first set up.
Most of our alumni now work in the field of public relations or related communications industries, many at a senior level. About two-thirds find work in PR within a year of graduating, while some go on to undertake further academic research, according to the emails that alumni send us.
Many students obtain work placements or internships while they are studying, and these sometimes lead to permanent jobs (as it did for five students in the 07/08 intake).
Alumni work in leading PR agencies
We have former students in senior positions both in-house and in some of the world's leading PR agencies, in offices round the world, including Burson-Marsteller, Edelman, Hill & Knowlton and Ketchum.
Among the alumni who have won awards is Reuven Proenca, who won Young Communicator of the Year in 2009 at the inaugural Middle East PR Association Awards in Dubai.
Our alumni reach over 32 different countries including India, the United States of America, Greece, France, Africa, Chile, Nepal, the Ukraine and many others.
What former students say
"As a working professional it was not an easy decision to go back to school. But there was this strong desire to give what I did for a living an extra edge. It was a learning curve in every sense. I grew both academically and professionally from this programme. It taught me to 'strategise' intelligently and present my ideas confidently. Every day, I use what I learned on the course."
Rama Arya, Botswana, graduated 2009
"I found the course interesting and useful, because it has a good balance between learning public relations in practice and in theory. While such exercises as pitching for campaigns helped me to gain confidence, taking part in debates about current ethical PR issues gave me a strong platform for my future career development, because I believe that communicating in an ethical way is the only way we can make a real difference."
Nguyen Thai Ha, Vietnam, graduated 2008
"I love my job! I have found a place that is working really hard to keep their employees happy and that makes a huge difference. It pays really well and I'm using the skills that I learned on the course. I wasn't originally planning to stay and work in London after the course, but .. it's been such a good decision!"
Krystin Washington, USA, graduated 2007
