This is a newly developed course aimed at those wishing to work within the image management sector (picture libraries, photographic agencies, photographic archives, and museum collections). It is the only course of its kind in the UK, offering you a fast-track, work-based course that combines the academic rigour of a degree programme with the industry relevance of a substantial internship.
The course has strong links with industry from the outset - it has been developed in collaboration with Skillset (the Sector Skills Council for Creative Media) and with consultation from a steering group comprising representatives from BAPLA (the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies), Arcaid, Corbis, Getty, Imperial War Museum, Magnum and the Nature Picture Library.
You will either already be working within the image management sector and wishing to learn new skills, deepen your understanding and broaden your horizons or you will complete an internship with a participating employer within the sector.
The foundation degree is also 'articulated' to our Photographic Arts BA Honours and Photography BA Honours (part time) courses. This means that on completion of the degree you will have the opportunity to 'top up' your qualification to a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours on one of these internationally renowned courses.
