Entry Requirements

If you are studying your first degree or are a graduate and wish to study for one semester or full year the entrance requirements are:

  • You must be studying for a degree in your home country or have already graduated
  • You must have completed at least one year of your degree
  • You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent e.g. B+ grades, 80%+). If you wish to study media you require a cumulative 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • If English is not your first language, you are required to provide official proof of your English language ability unless we have a specific agreement with your home school. Please check with your International Office if you think or know our universities are partners.
  • Proof of English must be in the form of a recent TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge English Language Examination score. We will require a 6.0 IELTS or equivalent to study with us if you are not a graduate. If you want to study graduate modules you will need a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
  • If you will require a Tier 4 visa (i.e. non-EEA students studying for more than 6 months or taking an internship) the UKBA requires that you meet the following minimum component entry requirements: IELTS (Listening 5.5, Writing 5.5, Speaking 5.5, Reading 5.5) / TOEFL (Listening 21, Writing 21, Speaking 23, Reading 22). For a list of other approved test providers, please see http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/new-approved-english-tests.pdf
  • If you don’t have this level of English you can take one of our english language courses.

Please Note: Students are required to take the equivalent of 60 UK (16 US/Japanese & 30 ECTS) credits, which means they normally take 4 modules per semester. To avoid disappointment due to timetable clashes, classes filling up etc you must select at least 8 modules per semester and these modules must be approved for credit transfer by your home institution. Your modules must be listed in order of preference and must be submitted with your application.
